We tested the main contenders for the 2026 touring throne and the verdict isn’t clear-cut — it depends on what you value.

BMW R 1300 GS. The queen is still the queen. New boxer with more power and less weight, cutting-edge electronics and comfort no other bike offers over 500 daily kilometres. Ideal for mixed groups and any road surface.

Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally. The sportiest choice. A thirsty but civilised V4, shaft drive instead of chain, huge range and cornering behaviour no other adventure can match.

Honda Africa Twin Adventure Sports. The rational pick. Honda reliability, optional DCT (transformative in cities), capable off-road and unbeatable total cost of ownership.

Triumph Tiger 900 GT Pro. The trump card is the three-cylinder engine — unique character, unmistakable sound. Top suspension and brakes, perfect ergonomics for medium-height riders.

BMW R 1250 RT. If your route is 90% pure asphalt, nothing beats the RT. Aerodynamic protection, comfort and premium infotainment.
