Please read these terms carefully before booking a tour. By confirming a reservation you agree to be bound by everything set out below.
1. SCOPE
These Terms & Conditions govern the booking and participation in motorcycle tours, events and related services provided by Lusitano Journeys ("we", "us"). By completing a booking you ("the rider", "you") accept these terms in full.
2. BOOKINGS & PAYMENT
A booking is confirmed once we receive a non-refundable deposit of 30% of the total tour price. The remaining balance is due no later than 45 days before the tour start date.
For bookings made less than 45 days before departure, full payment is required at the time of booking. Payments can be made by credit card or bank transfer in EUR.
3. RIDER REQUIREMENTS
All riders must hold a valid Category A motorcycle licence with at least 1 year of riding experience. We may request a copy of your licence prior to departure.
You must be in good physical and mental condition to ride safely for extended periods. Any medical condition that may affect your ability to ride must be disclosed at booking.
The minimum age to ride is 21. Passengers on a two-up booking must be at least 18.
4. MOTORCYCLE RENTAL & DEPOSIT
Motorcycles are provided in full working order with insurance included. A refundable security deposit will be blocked on your credit card at check-in to cover the insurance excess in case of damage or theft.
You are responsible for the motorcycle from pick-up until return. Any damage caused by negligence, misuse, off-road riding or riding under the influence is not covered by insurance and will be charged in full.
5. INSURANCE
Third-party liability, theft and damage insurance are included, with a standard excess per event. Personal accident, medical and trip cancellation insurance are NOT included and are the rider's responsibility.
We strongly recommend that every participant purchases comprehensive travel and medical insurance covering motorcycling activities before the tour.
6. CANCELLATION BY THE RIDER
Cancellations must be sent in writing to hello@lusitanojourneys.pt. The following fees apply based on the date we receive the cancellation:
• More than 45 days before departure: full refund minus the 30% deposit.
• 45 to 21 days before departure: 50% of the total tour price is retained.
• Less than 21 days before departure: 100% of the total tour price is retained.
7. CANCELLATION OR CHANGES BY LUSITANO JOURNEYS
We reserve the right to cancel or modify a tour due to insufficient bookings, force majeure, extreme weather, or any circumstance that may compromise rider safety.
If we cancel a tour before departure, you will be offered an alternative date or a full refund of amounts paid. We are not liable for any additional costs such as flights, accommodation or connecting transport.
8. CONDUCT ON TOUR
Riders must at all times comply with the Portuguese Highway Code and follow the instructions of the tour guide. Riding under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate exclusion from the tour without refund.
We reserve the right to exclude any participant whose behaviour endangers themselves, other riders, or third parties. In such cases no refund will be provided.
9. LIABILITY
Motorcycling involves inherent risks. Each rider participates at their own risk and is solely responsible for their riding decisions. Lusitano Journeys is not liable for personal injury, death, loss or damage of personal belongings, unless caused by our proven gross negligence.
10. IMAGES & MEDIA
Photos and videos taken during the tour may be used by Lusitano Journeys for promotional purposes on our website and social media. Please let us know in writing if you do not wish to appear in such content.
11. GOVERNING LAW
These terms are governed by Portuguese law. Any dispute shall be submitted to the courts of Lisbon, Portugal. Consumers may also refer disputes to the Portuguese online dispute resolution platform.
